OVERVIEW

Vectorform engaged in a design sprint with Google's AndroidWear, designing a watch interface that offers users the ability to control their home's lights, thermostat, and more right from their wrist. The interface seamlessly connects the real and digital worlds and helps users get the most out of their smart home features.

CHALLENGE

The challenge we faced with this project was to design a smartwatch interface that allows the user to control home IoT devices. The app needs to listen and speak to the home's thermostat, smart lights, door locks, and monitor the home energy use.

With a tight timeline, we wanted to be able to design and begin preliminary development as a proof of concept for the client.

SOLUTION

Our solution revolved around creating a living watch-face with dynamic data points that fluctuated as the touch-points in the home changed. The watch face also allowed users to access the micro app where they could dive into the 4 main controls, gain deeper insights into the data, and control their smart home ecosystem from their watch.

This project was very well received by Google's Androidwear team.
